“So far, we have yet to receive a call from Honda regarding the matter,” said the woman’s sister-in-law, Roslinya Latip, to FMT.
“The tragedy just happened, and our family has been busy with matters of the burial and her children.”
On June 26, single mother Norazlin Haron, 44, died after being involved in a small accident with a Mercedes-Benz car on her way from her home in Sri Gombak to Kota Damansara.
Police investigations revealed the cause of death as being an exploding airbag inflator.
The other three passengers, her two children aged 9 and 12, and her niece, 22, were not injured.
Her death is the fourth involving airbags installed in Malaysian Honda cars.
Speaking of the close relationship with the victim’s family, Roslinya said that her husband was one of Norazlin’s closest siblings.
“We were very close, we would always meet and talk over the telephone,” said the 34-year-old housewife.
Yesterday, Honda alleged that Norazlin’s car was involved in a recall programme announced on May 21, 2015 to replace the airbag inflators.
Roslinya said in a Facebook post yesterday that Honda had only set a meeting with Norazlin to change her car’s airbag after this Hari Raya.
“If it has been proven faulty, isn’t it Honda’s responsibility to take immediate and more serious action for the safety of its users?
“Our sister has passed, but please don’t let this incident repeat itself.”
