The wing’s religious bureau representative Wan Ji Wan Hussin lodged the report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters this morning.
In dubbing Abdul Rahman’s remark as “extremely dangerous”, Wan Ji, who is also a religious preacher, said it could also pave the way to acts of violence against non-Muslims.
“The Pahang mufti’s remark is akin to the Islamic State’s teaching, which labels those with differing ideologies as anti-Islam. We, the peace-lovers, do not want Isis like elements to take root in Malaysia.
“Police have to take this matter seriously. If such ideologies are not handled in its initial stages, then we worry, it would spread out to become out of control,” Wan Ji told reporters after lodging the report.
Abdul Rahman has come under fire from various quarters over his “kafir harbi” remark, which said those opposing the implementation of Islamic principles were going against God, and deserved to have war waged against them.
Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, who accompanied Wan Ji to lodge the report, called on BN component party leaders to escalate the matter to the Cabinet.
“I hope they (BN component party leaders) don’t play politics by slamming the issue on the media only. I want to ask whether they have, or will take the matter to the Cabinet.”
