KUALA LUMPUR:
The Ministry of Defence is scrutinising a report that a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft was intercepted by Indonesian jet fighters near Natuna Islands today.

Its minister, Hishammuddin Hussein said a C130 RMAF aircraft from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan was intercepted by two Indonesian jet fighters.

“The report has been received but no details. I have close ties with my Indonesian counterpart Ryamizard Ryacudu and will contact him if neccessary,” he told reporters after distributing 1,000 ‘bubur lambuk’ to the public at the Taman Setiawangsa Ramadan bazaar here, today.

Hishammuddin said he hoped the incident would not be exaggerated in order to maintain the harmony and good relations between Malaysia and Indonesia.

“Previously, there were incidents involving both countries but we managed to resolve these via diplomacy and military channels,” he added.
