In his latest column published in Sinar Harian today, the controversial preacher claimed that the Chinese-based party was never in favour of Islam, citing the numerous times it opposed initiatives that were Islamic in nature.
This included the party’s disapproval of the recent call by the Kelantan religious council for non-Muslims to dress decently during Ramadan.
Tee then wondered on what grounds was MCA defending “sexy attire” and suggested that the party and the other “ultra kiasu” – a label used to described the Opposition or perceived enemies of Islam – did not want Islamic values to take root in Malaysian society.
“They are afraid this would lead to hudud being implemented.”
Tee also took MCA to task over the absence of the national language in its official website, pointing out that the lingua franca used was either Chinese or English.
He then challenged MCA – which he earlier labelled as anti-Islam – to prove its sincerity when it comes to assimilation by supporting the Private Members Bill to elevate the status of the Shariah court.
“MCA won’t stand to lose anything as it would also win in Malay-majority areas where it wants to contest.”
The contentious Bill which seeks harsher sentences for offences under Shariah laws was brought forward in Parliament last month. It was tabled by PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang.
Many of the Bill’s detractors argue that it is meant to pave the way for hudud to be implemented in PAS-led Kelantan.
