Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor sentenced Suhaime Sariman, 28, after he pleaded guilty to two charges of hurting his wife, Azirah Jeffery, 21, five days ago.

The accused was charged with committing the offences at a staircase of a shophouse and in the rented room of the shophouse at No 31B-13, Jalan Pandan Indah 1/23, Pandan Indah, here at 1.10 am and 1.30 am on June 15.

The court sentenced him to six months’ jail for the first charge and eight months for the second charge and ordered the sentence to run concurrently from the date of his arrest on Jun 16. The accused was not represented.

Based on the facts of the case, a misunderstanding had occurred between the accused and the victim at her workplace, a sports equipment store, and the accused had slapped and spat on her.

When she returned to their rented room, he again hurt her by pulling her hand and pushing her causing her to fall and then kicked her legs.
