PETALING JAYA:
Malaysians are still talking about the hair-raising escapades of Chickaboo the ostrich sprinting down the Federal Highway last week and now there’s another animal that will likely be the talk of the town – a horse.

In two short videos uploaded by Facebook user Adli Alimin, a majestic but obviously frantic dark brown horse was seen tearing down the highway in Kota Baru, Kelantan, on the fast lane as motorist rode cautiously alongside it.

According to a report in The Star Online today, Adli was quoted as saying he was on his way to the office at 10am when he spotted the horse galloping at top speed.

“The horse was running on the street for some 45 minutes. Based on the information I received, it ran from Pasir Pekan in Wakaf Bharu to Kubang Kerian.”

He also said the horse was likely galloping at 80kph, changing lanes every now and again, causing motorists to slow down in order not to hit the animal.

“The traffic stopped at the flyover from Pasir Pekan to Kota Baru. The horse was right in front of us so we had to be cautious not to hit it because we didn’t know how it would react.

“It kept switching from the left to the right so we were worried for its safety,” Adli said, adding that the owner of the horse was probably looking for it.

“Usually we see cows or goats, but this is the first time I’m seeing a horse (on the street),” he said.

The videos, that have obviously captured the attention of netizens have been shared 8,331 times at the time of writing.

Although no one knows how the animal ended up on the streets running for its life, it could very well have escaped from any of the horse stables located in Pasir Pekan.

Looks like we will just have to sit tight and wait for the actual story from the horse’s mouth in the days to come.
