KUALA KANGSAR: The former head of the Umno division here, Ramly Zahari, has lodged a police report that his mobile phone had been hacked and used to disseminate slanderous messages.

He said he discovered the hack after receiving exchanges of 30 SMS text messages from unknown individuals at about 10.30pm last night.

“A man contacted me, enquiring about my identity and why I sent such SMS to him. In the SMS, it appeared as if I was condemning them, using numerous unflattering names, if they voted for the Barisan Nasional candidate at the parliamentary by-election here,” he added.

Ramly said he had to terminate his mobile line. He urged that an investigation be conducted to identify the culprits.
