SUNGAI BESAR:
Amanah has acknowledged that one of its youth leaders acted inappropriately during an altercation at their office in Kuala Kangsar yesterday.

Amanah Strategy Director Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said he was aware and will investigate the matter which involved a Perak Amanah Youth senior leader and a woman reporter.

He said Amanah would not hesitate taking disciplinary action against any member for overzealous behaviour or anything against established norms.

“We shall make sure this is not repeated. If at all it has happened, we will get down to the bottom of it,” he told reporters at the Sungai Besar Amanah office today.

The incident happened yesterday during a press conference with PKR’s Rafizi Ramli where the reporter was stopped from re-entering the area after she had gone down to cover a commotion downstairs.

In a video which went viral, an Amanah Youth member could be seen verbally abusing the reporter and saying it wasn’t possible for her to go in.

Amanah Youth Communications Director Khairul Najib Hashim also apologised in a statement today.

However, Amanah Communications Director Khalid Samad has claimed that, based on the video, the reporter involved might have provoked the incident.

“Based on the dialogue, there must have been some history between them. The journalist might have caused the provocation.”
