Nadia Malina Mat Junoh, 33, of Kampung Tok Randok here, said the fire occurred about 7.35pm yesterday when she was at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) looking after her husband Zamri Kamal, 40.
Their four children were left with their grandfather who lived nearby.
The victim’s neigbour, Kamaruddin Kayakuti, 53, noticed the fire when he saw smoke coming out of Nadia’s house.
“Initially, I thought Nadia’s children were playing firecrackers, but after dinner, I could see the blaze at the house and shouted for help.
“The incident happened very fast, as the flame spread to the whole house in less than 15 minutes as it was mostly made of wood,” he said when met by reporters during a visit by the State Education, Science Technology and Special Duties Committee chairman Ghazali Taib today.
