Its chief, Nor Hayati Onn is confident Budiman will be able to continue with the excellent service which had been extended by BN in the area thus far.
“Budiman is a local who is well-known and well-liked by the local community and he had worked closely with the late Datuk Noriah Kasnon in addressing problems faced by the people in the Sungai Besar constituency.
“Selangor Wanita BN is certain that the Sungai Panjang assemblyman’s vast experience and good relations with the people will put him in good stead.
“I hope Sungai Besar voters will make the wise decision to have BN maintained there,” she said in a statement here today.
At the 13th General Election (GE) in 2013, Budiman won the Sungai Panjang state seat after defeating Mohd Fadzin Taslimin of PAS with a majority of 2,183 votes.
Sungai Panjang is one of the two state assembly seats under the Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency with the other being Sekinchan that was won by DAP.
Budiman was announced the BN candidate for the Sungai Besar parliamentary seat by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi before 2,000 supporters at the launch of the BN machinery for the by-election at the BN command centre in Sungai Panjang, Friday night.
The Sungai Besar parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of the incumbent, Noriah Kasnon, in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.
The Election Commission has set June 5 as nomination day for the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election.
