PETALING JAYA: Former Umno man, Khairuddin Abu Hassan accused Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia founder, Badrul Hisham Shaharin (Chegubard), of trying to derail the Citizen’s Declaration movement.

In a statement today, the former Batu Kawan Umno division deputy chief slammed Chegubard, after the latter held a press conference yesterday to highlight the alleged sale of a database containing names and MyKad (identity card) numbers, for the purpose of hyping the Citizen’s Declaration campaign.

He told Chegubard to stop slandering the Citizen’s Declaration which is seeking the removal of Prime Minister Najib Razak and implementing other institutional reforms.

In dismissing the threat to the movement, Khairuddin said there was no need for anyone to pay attention to Chegubard, whom he described as a person who spun the truth and slandered for personal gain, and lacked credibility.

“These ‘dedak’ eaters will look for all sorts of ways to slander, but they are evil and will not succeed as the people know they are,” he said, adding the public were aware of the agenda by those fearful of the response to the Citizen’s Declaration.

“Dedak” is the Malay word for bird feed.

He said that the people leading the charge in the Citizen’s Declaration movement only answered to the Malay rulers and not Chegubard, and also urged the people to continue to support the campaign.

Yesterday, a man named Azharuddin Othman@Abdullah claimed he had sold a database containing the names and MyKad numbers of 900,000 Malaysians for the Citizen’s Declaration.

Azharuddin said the names and MyKad numbers were taken from an electoral database which he had used in the course of his work with political parties for elections.
