GEORGE TOWN:
You are just out to attack the chief minister and have no genuine interest to discuss the Undersea Tunnel project, a Penang executive councillor told Abdul Rahman Dahlan today.

State Public Works, Utilities, and Transportation Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng said it was regrettable that the Federal minister had resorted to personal attacks instead of staying on point.

Lim said Rahman’s chagrin over questions being answered by him, instead of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, was unnecessary.

“The statements issued before this are not by individuals, either by me or Guan Eng.

“But it is an official statement by the state government. But Rahman seems to be miffed whenever I release statements, asking me why it could not be Guan Eng.

“This clearly shows that he (Rahman) wants to attack Guan Eng personally and is not interested in making statements about the project,” Hock Seng said in a press conference here today.

Today, Hock Seng released a five-page, 11-point statement with answers to Rahman’s recent questions on the tunnel. Hock Seng says this would be the last time.

Rahman, who is also Barisan Nasional’s Strategic Communications Director, had previously posed long lists of questions to the Penang government over the Penang Undersea Tunnel, to which Hock Seng, as exco in charge of transportation, had replied him twice.

Meanwhile, Hock Seng said although the Penang government had extended the courtesy of answering Rahman’s questions, the latter did not reciprocate.

“If Rahman does not want to answer our questions, then it is only fair that we stop future efforts to explain further.

“Why can’t we question a Federal minister and its government?”
