PETALING JAYA:
The Selangor Government today officially launched its food stamp programme aimed at helping 5,600 low-income families in the state, SelangorKini reported today.

According to the report, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, who launched the “#SmartSelangor Food Stamp” 2016 in Sungai Besar today, noted it was the only aid programme of its kind to be introduced by a state government in the country.

He said Selangor had allocated RM3 million for the project in its budget and revealed that the programme will kick off next month.

Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, elaborated that his administration would distribute basic necessities to the tune of RM50,000 a month to 100 families in each of the state’s 56 constituencies.

“This is for the needs of people who are faced with the high cost of living,” he said, adding the programme was well received by Selangorians.

At the launch, Azmin also handed over aid to 200 families from Sungai Panjang and Sekinchan.
