“A politician said that a certain party president does not know what is going on with his party.
“I’m more used to hearing from ignorant or ill-mannered people saying that ulama don’t know about their religion,” Nik Abduh said in a comment apparently directed at Azmin.
Azmin was previously reported as saying that he sympathised with Hadi, who he said did not seem to be following developments in his party.
Azmin had inferred this from his party’s two meetings with the PAS leadership regarding the two by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar next month.
“Sometimes, I sympathise with Ustaz Hadi. Maybe he does not know what is happening in his party,” he was reported to have said.
When contacted by FMT, PAS Vice-Youth Chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said that Azmin’s statement was intentionally twisted to spark a split between PAS and PKR.
Khairil said that Azmin had been accused before of ordering the expulsion of three PAS Selangor Exco members should PAS not agree to give the Sungai Besar seat to PKR.
“(There is reason to believe Azmin’s statement) was twisted because he had previously also been accused of wanting to expel Selangor PAS Exco members,” Khairil said.
