Replying to Opposition MP Tony Pua’s call for him to provide a platform for the debate, Salleh said there was nothing more to be debated as the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) probe on the embattled state investment firm had already been tabled in Parliament.
“We are not interested as investigations conducted by the PAC and the Auditor-General have been concluded.
“If anyone is interested in debating on it, they can do so in Parliament.
“What’s going on now is more of a business dispute between 1MDB and IPIC,” said Salleh in reference to Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company.
Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby here today, the Umno minister said while RTM is not interested in hosting the debate, other news stations are free to decide otherwise.
“It’s up to them. There is no restriction on other stations holding the live telecast, but RTM will not be doing it.”
Pua, who is Petaling Jaya Utara lawmaker, had earlier today urged Salleh to air the debate live on either TV3 or RTM.
He said the proposed debate had been agreed upon by 1MDB President Arul Kanda, who had contacted him to make the necessary arrangements.
He said Arul had also assigned 1MDB Head of Communications Robert Ho to lead discussions on the format and structure of the debate.
