Thousands were at Dataran Bandaraya here to view the trucks and take part in a carnival in conjunction with the expedition.
Sultan Ibrahim, accompanied by his consort the Permaisuri Johor, and their children, the Tunku Temenggong, Tunku Panglima and Tunku Putera, had breakfast with the menteri besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin, state leaders and members of the public.
The tour takes place over four days and follows a 842km-long route through 10 districts. The convoy comprises the sultan’s three Mack trucks, two buses, 35 Harley-Davidson motorcycles and 10 four-wheel drive vehicles.
Mack Truck Australia took over a year to build the customised Super-Liner tractor rig for a rumoured cost of over US$1 million.
Accoding to Big Rigs magazine, the truck’s sleeper cabin has been expanded to fit a fold-out double bed, as well as a refrigerator, cooking grill, a six-camera CCTV system, two television sets, wooden floors, and cabinets with stone-covered tops, according to Big Rigs.
It also has a sun deck behind, with space for deck chairs, umbrellas and a pull-out barbeque grill
