ALOR GAJAH:
The Melaka government plans to add up to 300 charging stations for electric vehicles within the next two years, chief minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said today.

“We now have 132 EV charging stations across the state and we will try to add more in strategic areas, especially at tourist attractions and, for that, we encourage private sector collaboration,” he said.

The provision of charging stations would add value to the state government’s efforts to attract more investors so as to boost the growth of the electric vehicle and energy efficient vehicle industry in Melaka, he said.

Rauf was speaking to reporters after witnessing the delivery of the 1,000th car by supplier and assembly company EPMB Group.

He said Melaka has become the hub of electric vehicle and energy efficient vehicle assembly and production, by being strategically located between Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Singapore.
