PETALING JAYA:
The new Sarawak cabinet is expected to be sworn in today, Borneo Post Online reported.

The portal, quoting sources, said the expanded cabinet will have 10 full ministers and three deputy chief ministers.

According to the article, among the 10 ministers are state chief minister Adenan Satem himself, Abang Johari Openg, James Jemut Masing, Wong Soon Koh, Michael Manyin, Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Fatimah Abdullah.

The three deputy CMs are said to be Abang Johari, Masing and Uggah, whereas the new faces in the line-up are SUPP president Dr Sim Kui Hian, Douglas Uggah and Stephen Rundi.

“It is speculated that Tan Sri William Mawan will be dropped from the cabinet because as Saratok MP, he is most likely to be appointed federal minister, replacing Uggah who is coming back to serve in the state, though in a different ministry,” said the article.

The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed that the swearing-in of ministers will take place at the new State Legislative Assembly Complex at 3pm today.

If the speculations are true, the line-up will see PBB leaders holding the most number of positions – with seven ministers from the party, while the other component parties will have one representative each.

The previous cabinet consisted of nine members, including Adenan, said the report. This new line-up of 10 full ministers is in accordance to the state constitution which provides for 10 full ministerial positions in addition to the post of chief minister.
