Debate Umno, not me, Ramasamy tells MIC

P Ramasamy of DAP "advises" C Sivaraajh to quit MIC and "start planting chillies" with the aid of his party stalwarts.

GEORGE TOWN:
Debate with your Umno “masters”, P Ramasamy of DAP tells MIC Youth chief C Sivaraajh over the eviction of villagers from an Indian village in Ijok, Selangor.

Ramasamy also said he would not debate Sivaraajh as challenged as the MIC leader was a “fool” and someone who was not to be taken seriously.

“Who is this Sivaraajh? He is a lap dog of Umno clowns. Yet, he has the temerity to challenge me.

“Ask him to debate his masters in Umno. But then, beggars or slaves cannot stand up to their masters.

“Sivaraajh is a joker. Even the MIC leaders do not take him seriously. Why should I take him seriously, let alone debate with this fool?” he told FMT.

These comments were made after Sivaraajh had rebuked Ramasamy over his criticism of MIC in regard to the eviction of folks from Kampung Sri Aman in Ijok earlier this week. Sivaraajh also issued a challenge to Ramasamy to debate him, while also describing the DAP leader as “a mere publicity freak and the biggest failure to the Indian community” for failing to stand up for Indian issues.

Ramasamy in turn called MIC hypocrites for the Indian party’s “sudden appearance” during the eviction to champion the villagers, saying they had ignored most issues affecting the country in general.

He also reminded Sivaraajh that MIC’s attempts to help the evicted villagers may bring more harm than good. “Nine families of Kg Buah Pala, Gelugor, Penang, lost out in the housing scheme because they were ill-advised by MIC.”

Ramasamy said MIC also threw a spanner in the works when there was an attempt to compensate the settlers of Kg Buah Pala. He said MIC’s intervention had cost nine families to be excluded from a RM600,000 bungalow in 2009.

“In the case of Kg Sri Aman, Ijok, the four remaining families will have no chance to get a decent deal if the MIC is involved.

“I am not MIC Youth’s enemy. The real enemies are in Umno and corrupted MIC leaders,” Ramasamy said.

Last Tuesday, MIC attempted to stop the demolition of 30 houses at Kampung Seri Aman, Ijok, following a demolition operation by the Kuala Selangor district Land and Mines Department.

The residents were families of those who had settled there 50 years ago, with the majority being estate workers.

The homes were to be cleared to make way for an affordable housing project.

Selangor State Executive Councillor V Ganabatirau later said four houses and three “small places of worship” were demolished.

The village’s 30 house owners there had been told to relocate since 2013, but only a handful had done so.

Ganabatirau said only four house owners had refused the offer of two housing and farmland lots by the developer of the affordable housing project.

They also refused the RM5,000 compensation offered.

Meanwhile, Ramasamy went on to pour scorn on Sivaraajh, telling him to “abandon ship” before MIC went under water.

“MIC is about to become a sunk ship. It is better for Sivaraajh and his pack to abandon the ship before it is too late.

“Maybe he can get some advice from (Deputy Youth and Sports Minister and MIC leader) M Saravanan to venture out into chilli planting,” Ramasamy said, alluding to the deputy minister’s project to get more youths interested in farming chilli.
