SEREMBAN: An 18-month-old boy fell head first into a pail of water and drowned at his home in Bukit Gombang, Batu Kikir, near here last night, police said.

Jempol Police chief Supt Noorzainy Mood Noor said Muhammad Fahrul Firnas Nor Azuan, the youngest of three siblings, was found by his father at about 10.30pm in the pail used to store water in the kitchen.

The father of the victim told police that water was being stored in the pail due to the recent water cuts in the area.

The boy was rushed to the Kuala Pilah Hospital but was declared dead at 11.45pm, he added.
