It was a Mother’s Day gift from the late Ahmad Sobri Harun, who was one of the six people killed in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak, on Thursday, according to the New Straits Times (NST).
Despite his busy schedule, he had taken the time to buy and courier a box of ikan terubok, his mother’s favourite, from Sarawak.
He had sent the 2.73kg fish to Kamaludin Muda, his parents’ neighbour, as they were seldom at home.
The box reached Fauziah’s hands at 2.30pm on Sunday, barely six hours after she attended her son’s funeral at the Tok Mek Ngah Muslim cemetery in Kuala Terengganu.
A childhood friend of Sobri’s, Talahah Nukman, had visited the parents yesterday and saw the parcel placed under a table in the living room. However, the parcel still remained intact, although it contained perishable goods.
“It was not even put inside the refrigerator. She loves ikan terubok… but not this time,” he told NST.
He added that Sobri’s mother had not opened the parcel as she felt it would overwhelm her with too many memories.
Sobri was the bodyguard of Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Noriah Kasnon, who also died in the crash near Sungai Batang Lupar in Sarawak.
