9.55PM: In Jepak, BN’s Talib Zul Pilip emerged victorious in a five-way battle with 4,200-vote majority.

In Pelawan, DAP’s Wong Kee Woan won a three-way contest with a 4,300-vote majority.

9.50PM: (Unofficial result) BN has won 72 out of the 82 seats in the Sarawak 2016 election.

DAP has seven and PKR three seats.

In 2011, BN had captured 55 out of the 70 seats.

9.47PM: BN has won in the new seat of Samalaju with its candidate, Majang Renggi, emerging victorious in the three-way battle against DAP and PAS.

In Lambir, BN incumbent Ripin Lamat won a three-way fight to retain the seat with a majority of 4,900 votes.

9.45PM: BN’s Lo Khere Chiang says he will celebrate his victory with his voters in Batu Kitang and promised there would be a lot of “merry-making”.

“This is Sarawak, it’s is filled with happy-go-lucky people.

“Kuching is a city of joy and happiness.”

“The first thing I plan to do is to improve the drainage system as I want to resolve the flooding issues. I am an engineer and this is my area of expertise. I want to find a solution.”

Lo emerged victorious in the five-cornered contest, garnering 6,494 votes.

9.43PM: Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong says BN’s victory in Sarawak reflects the positive public support towards Adenan Satem’s leadership and growing confidence in the ruling coalition.

In a statement, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department also said it is both “pleasing and encouraging” to witness BN winning more seats and maintaining a two-thirds majority.

“This will enable BN to continue its development agenda in the state and push for greater autonomy.”

9.30PM: In Satok, BN strongman Abang Johari Openg easily retained his seat by over 5,000 votes against PKR’s Mohd Salleh Shawkatali.

BN has retained Kakus, Katibas and Kemena with incumbents John Sikie Tayai, Ambrose Bliku Enturan and Stephen Rundi Utom successfully defending the seats.

In Kuala Rajang, BN incumbent Talif alias Len Salleh retained his seat in a three-way fight with a 5,500-vote majority.

In Kedup, BN incumbent Maclaine Ben alias Martin Ben successfully defended his seat in a three-way battle as did BN’s Machan incumbent  Allan Siden Gramong.

In Dalat, BN incumbent Fatimah Abdullah successfully retained her seat against PKR’s Sim Eng Hua with a 6,300-vote majority.

9.25pm Both SUPP candidates, Sebastian Ting and Lee Kim Shin, won comfortably in Piasau and Senadin respectively, proving that the majority Chinese community did not fully turn to DAP.

Ting won with 7,799 votes against DAP’s Alan Ling with 5,687, a 2,112-vote majority.

Lee retained his seat against DAP’s Dr Bob Baru Langub and PBDS-Baru’s Philemon John Endau with a majority of 3,538 votes.

In Pujut, BN direct candidate Hii King Chiong succumbed to Dr Ting Tiong Choon of DAP.

It is believed that Hii did not receive much support from his former party, SUPP, after leaving the party to join UPP two years ago.

He lost to DAP’s Ting Tiong Choon by 1,759 votes.

Ting said he was sad that both Ling and Baru did not win their seats but vowed to serve the people of Pujut the best he could.

“I’m very grateful to be selected in Pujut. I believe Miri and especially Pujut voters have given me a heavy task to complete.

“Unfortunately Alan (Ling) and Baru were unable to succeed in winning their seats. I promise I will do my best to the people of Miri to serve every race, all people of Miri.

“On top of that, I’m going to make sure Adenan (Satem) does what was promised for the Chinese community.”

Ting was seen shaking hands with incumbent Fong Pau Teck, who was sacked from DAP in 2013.

9.15PM:  Barisan Nasional has won the Sarawak state election, achieving a majority, said the Election Commission.

There were 82 seats contested in this year’s state polls against 71 in 2011.

Out of the seats for which counting has been completed, BN has won 64, against PKR’s three and DAP’s seven.

In the last Sarawak election, BN won 55 of the 71 seats, DAP won 12 and PKR 3. An independent candidate won one seat.

In Simanggang, BN’s incumbent Francis Harden Hollis retained the seat in a four-way battle with 1,300-vote majority.

In the new seat of Tellian, BN’s Yussibnosh Balo has defeated PKR’s Asini Yahaya by over 4,400 votes.

9.05PM:  DAP’s incumbent Christina Chiew loses to SUPP President Sim Kui Hin in Batu Kawah. BN won with 5,760 votes to DAP’s 3,978 votes.

Former Perlis Mufti Juanda Jaya wins the Jemoreng seat for BN in a three-way contest with a 3,700-vote majority.

In Bekunu, BN incumbent Rosey Yunus retains the seat in a four-way fight with 4,700-vote majority.

In Simunjan, BN’s Awla Dris wins a three-way fight with 2,700 votes.

In Engkilili, BN incumbent Johnical Rayong Ngipa retains seat in a four-way battle with 3,800 votes.

In Senadin, BN’s Lee Kim Shin beats  DAP’s Bob Baru Langub. BN received 10,683 votes to DAP’s 7,145 votes.

9PM: Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen retains his Kota Sentosa seat by beating BN’s Yap Yau Sin with a 2,800-vote majority.

In Demak Laut, BN incumbent Hazland Hipni retained his seat against Amanah’s Mohd Fidzuan Zaidi with a 7,300-vote majority.

In Tupong, BN’s Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman won against PKR’s Nurhanim Mokhsen with 8,000-vote majority.

BN Pantai Damai incumbent Abdul Rahman Junaidi retained seat with a landslide majority of 9,000 votes against PAS’ Zainal Abidin Yet.

BN also won in the new seat of Bukit Goram with Jefferson Jamit Unyat defeating DAP’s Larry Asap with 2,500 votes.

In Beting Maro, BN’s Razaili Gapor won a three-way contest against PAS and Amanah candidates with  a 1,700-vote  majority.

BN has won the new seat of Kabong, with its candidate Mohd Chee Kadir defeating Amanah’s Jini Sahini by over 3,500 votes.

8.50PM: DAP loses Piasau seat as its candidate Alan Ling polls 2,000 votes less than BN’s Sebastian Ting.

DAP also lost in Repok. Its candidate, Yong Siew Wei, lost to BN’s Huang Tiong Sii by almost 1,000 votes.

Amanah has lost all 13 seats it contested.

In Pujut, DAP’s Ting Tiong Choon has defeated BN’s Hii King Chiong with over 1,700 votes.

In Asajaya, BN’s incumbent Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah beat PKR’s Abang Junaidi Abang Gom by over 4,000 votes.

In Tamin, BN’s Christopher Gira Sambang won the seat in a three-way contest by 2,000-vote  majority.

8.40PM:  BN’s Lo Khere Chiang wins in the hotly-contested new seat of Batu Kitang, with 6,494 votes against DAP’s 4,628 and PKR’s 889 votes. The DAP candidate was Abdul Aziz Isa and PKR’s was Voon Shiak Ni.

BN’s Palu @ Paulus Gumbang retains the Batu Danau seat with  a 2,900-vote majority against an independent candidate.

BN retains Muara Tuang with Idris Buang winning with a landslide majority of over 8,500 votes against Amanah and PAS candidates who both lost their deposits.

BN’s Samariang incumbent Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali retains seat with a comfortable a 7,700-vote majority against PAS and Amanah candidates.

BN’s Sadong Jaya incumbent Aidel Lariwoo retains seat in four-way contest with a 3,400-vote majority.

8.30PM: BN’s Chukpai Ugon wins new seat of Murum in a four-way fight with PKR, DAP and an independent with 2,200-vote majority.

8.25PM: BN’s Semop incumbent  Abdullah Saidol retains his seat, against Amanah’s Fadillah  Sabali with an over 4,000-vote majority.

BN also retains Kalaka with incumbent Abdul Wahab Aziz beating PKR’s Jemat Panjang with over 2,800 votes.

BN retains Meluan with Rolland Duat Jubin emerging victorious in a four-way fight.

BN also retains Baleh with PRS President James Masing beating DAP’s Agop Linsong with over 4,700 votes.

7.45pm (Unofficial result) DAP’s Ting Tiong Choon retains Pujut with a slim majority of about 400 votes, obtaining 4,068 votes, in a four-cornered fight from BN’s Hii King Chiong, PAS’ Jofri Jarainee and independent Fong Pau Teck.

7.40pm: (Unofficial result) BN’s Mohd Naroden Majais beats Amanah’s Rapelson Richard Hamit and independent  Uja Bansi in Gedong.

7.35pm:  (Unofficial results) BN’s Gerald Rentap Jabu, son of outgoing Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu, wins in Layar beating his PKR rival.

7.28pm: In Miri, BN is leading in Piasau and Senadin, but trailing DAP in Pujut.

7.25pm: BN retains Saribas with incumbent Mohammad Razi Sitam getting 5,920 votes against PKR’s Yakup Daud with 1,523 votes. There were 95 spoilt votes.

7.20pm: (Unofficial results) BN veteran Wong Soon Koh retains Bawang  Assan in a five-cornered fight.

7pm: (Unofficial results), BN’s Dr Jerip Susil retains Mambong with 5,998 votes to DAP’s 2,828 and PKR’s 2,626.

6.58pm: In Batu Kitang, BN is leading with 4,040 to DAP’s 3,163.

6.55pm: In Pujut (a DAP seat), DAP, with 2,645 votes, is leading BN with 1,571 votes.

In Senadin, BN is leading 3,488 to DAP’s 1,664.

In Piasau (a DAP seat), BN is leading 2,530 to DAP’s 2,009.

6.40pm: Unofficial results:  federal minister Douglas Uggah Embas has won the Bukit Saban seat with 4,257 votes against PKR’s Noel Changgai Bucking, who only has 845 votes so far.

In Krian,  PKR is leading 3,142, BN 1,814.

In Kota Sentosa, DAP is leading with 5,674 votes against BN’s 4,577.

In Batu Kitang (a new seat), BN is leading with 2,031 to DAP’s 755.

In Batu Kawah (a DAP seat), BN is leading with 3314 against DAP’s 1,710.

In Repok (a DAP seat), BN is leading with 3,250 to DAP 1,858.

6.30pm: In Dudong (a DAP seat), BN leads with 5,625 against DAP’s 3,019 and an independent with 2,418.

6.10pm: In Serembu, unofficial results show BN’s Miro Simuh has won the seat with 3,420 votes against PKR’s 1214, Star’s 117 and the independent 2,048.

In Bukit Semuja, unofficial results show BN candidate John Ilus has won the seat, polling 4177 votes against DAP’s 1776, Star’s 45, PBDS-B 115 and Independent 946.

In Pakan, unofficial results show Teras President William Mawan narrowly retaining his seat by a mere 301 votes, beating the DAP and independent candidates.

6.05pm: (Unofficial) Ba’kelalan incumbent and PKR Sarawak chief Baru Bian wins with 3,150 against BN 2,487.

5.55pm: In Bukit Assek, DAP is leading with 1,563, BN 1,226.

In Meradong (a DAP seat), BN is leading 3,294 to DAP’s 2,040.

In Dudong (a DAP seat), BN is leading with 2,748 and

DAP 857, independent 1,692.

5.50pm: In Tasik Biru, BN has polled 3,989 against DAP’s 2,678.

In Padungan, DAP is leading with 763 to BN 659.

In Mambong, BN is leading with 4,572, PKR 2,175 and DAP 1061.

5.30pm: The Star reports BN has taken an early lead in many constituencies, including several Chinese areas such as Batu Kitang and Batu Kawah in Kuching and Bawang Assan in Sibu.

Chief Minister Adenan Satem looks a likely winner Tanjung Datu.

5pm: All polling centres close, counting begins.

Election Commission reports low voter turnout of 52% as of 4pm.
