Najib: Beware of Opposition’s psy-war tactics

PM warns that the Opposition is fond of confusing the people by feeding them false information, such as claiming 40,000 Bangladeshis voted for the government in the last General Election.

KUCHING:
Prime Minister Najib Razak today took a swipe at the Opposition’s psy-war tactics of confusing the people by feeding them with false information.

He said during the last general election, the Opposition coalition had accused Barisan Nasional (BN) of using 40,000 Bangladeshis to vote for the government.

However, according to Najib, the accusation was a lie and it had been proven to be so.

“I want to remind Sarawak voters to remain cautious. BN will not resort to this kind of tactics, but they (Opposition) will do just that to make people angry and confuse them.

“From the psy-war point of view, if you can’t win them over, confuse them.

“This has been proven to be one of their (Opposition) psy-war tactics in past elections,” he told the press at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

He also reminded Sarawakians to be rational when listening to the Opposition’s promises, adding that the public should be able to distinguish between facts and sentiments used by Pakatan Harapan just to enrage the people.

Najib said at this point, both sides would do whatever they could to win the votes.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Opposition’s allegation that the BN-led government will increase the GST rate should they win in Sarawak, Najib dismissed the claim.

“This is a lie and it has no basis whatsoever.

“This is another tactic by them just to infuriate the public and I hope the people will not fall into the Opposition’s trap.”

Sarawak is set to hold its 11th state election on May 7. Early voting was carried out on Tuesday.
