In a Facebook posting, Abdul Aziz, in reference to a FMT article in which Mazuyin Abd Manan said she was against her grandson standing on an Opposition ticket, said he had the blessings of his parents and his Dayak Christian grandmother.
He said he was not against the government as his grandmother had charged, but only corrupt leaders.
“Sorry, this is my destiny, and this is for the rakyat.
“It’s okay, I still have my Dayak Christian grandmother who always supports her Muslim grandson.”
Earlier today, FMT quoted 75-year-old Mazuyin as saying that she did not like the fact that Abdul Aziz wanted to fight against BN, and this was why she was supporting BN’s Batu Kitang candidate Lo Khere Chiang.
She had also called for people to not vote for her grandson.
“He’s really young, hasn’t even started working, but suddenly now he wants to go against the government,” she was quoted as saying.
The battle for Batu Kitang is a five-way fight involving BN’s Lo, DAP’s Abdul Aziz, PKR’s Voon Shiak Ni and independent candidates Othman Bojeng and Sulaiman Kadir.
