The Teras party assemblyman made way for SPDP’s Henry after serving the constituency for four terms. Henry will be contesting under the BN banner.
Despite being replaced, Nansian has thrown his support behind Henry and this has won him praise from the Sarawak chief minister, according to Borneo Post Online.
“If there is a true gentleman among us, he is sitting right in front of us now. Nansian is a true gentleman.
“With him coming on board with us for the BN, it is most certainly a victory in Tasik Biru,” Adenan said at a meet-the-people session in Bau, Kuching.
The former state assistant community affairs minister, who was seated in the front row at the event, also showed up at Monday’s nomination day to support Henry.
Henry is involved in a straight fight with DAP’s Mordi Bimol.
Meanwhile, in Limbang, PBB Senior Vice-President Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said allegations that there were “alternative” BN candidates was a lie aimed at fooling voters.
He was commenting on Batu Danau independent candidate Ali Adap’s claim of being the “alternative” BN candidate to the actual BN candidate and incumbent, Paulus Gumbang.
While campaigning in Limbang, Awang Tengah stressed that there was only one BN candidate in each of the 82 state constituencies.
Constituents, he added, should support Adenan’s inclusive leadership by rejecting candidates claiming to be “alternative” BN candidates.
Paulus also dismissed Ali’s claims that he had a letter of authorisation to be the BN candidate, signed by BN chairman Najib Razak.
