KUCHING:
The controversial entry ban, which had seen over a dozen political and “unsavoury” figures denied entry into Sarawak, is not going to end anytime soon.

In fact, according to Chief Minister Adenan Satem, there will be more bans imposed on others in the future.

“Let me be on record that I have banned the entry of not only Opposition members, but also members from Umno and other component parties if they misbehave.

“I have to protect the interests of the Sarawakians here so there will be peace and tranquility in this land,” said Adenan in a “no holds barred” question and answer session with the media last night.

He added that the reason DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, both from DAP, had been allowed into the state was because so far they had “behaved themselves.”

Adenan however advised the duo to continue their good behaviour or else face the prospect of having the privilege to travel to Sarawak, taken away.

“If they go out of line, make any racist statements and so on, I will call the Immigration Department and ask them (the two Lims) to leave. So this is my warning to them. Behave yourselves.

“I don’t want what happened in the last election. We allowed so many West Malaysian politicians to come to Sarawak and they caused havoc.

“I will ban religious bigots and racists and others who will cause tension among our people. So be careful when you come into Sarawak. Behave yourself, we want a peaceful election.”

Adenan also revealed that Subang Jaya assemblyman Ong Yew Tai of DAP was given his marching orders following reports of a commotion at the Baleh nomination centre on Monday.

“It is believed he (Ong) had caused a disturbance in the area. This man will be kicked out,” Adenan said with finality
