MAHB is also aiming to net RM7.5 billion in revenue during the same period. Last year, the company earned RM3.9 billion.
This was revealed by MAHB Managing Director Badlisham Ghazali, who was also confident of achieving the target via its “Runway to Success 2020” business plan.
One of the main attractions under the plan is the 1,000ha Aeropolis Park located beside the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which comprises a theme park, a convention centre and commercial areas.
This, Badlisham explained, will support the demand for airports to double up as entertainment, business and leisure spots.
“We are not building anything that is not needed. There is a demand for it from passengers who have the money and expect quality,” he said during a press conference here.
He said the Aeropolis Park was one way to attract investments and tourists.
Aeropolis will also see a state-of-the-art air cargo and logistics site as well as business and aviation parks to complement the needs at KLIA and other airports.
Other plans are to improve passenger experience with better connectivity, improved check-ins and better usage of mobile applications.
It will also look at ways to increase operational efficiency, such as faster turnaround at automated bag drops and better ground handlers.
Badlisham said more details on the project and funding would be announced on May 23 during the launch.
