This time it is Amanah Youth deputy head Shazni Munir Ithnin, who arrived at Sibu Airport at 7.57am today, and was told by immigration officers that he was not allowed into the state.
“While being escorted to the Immigration Office, the officer shouted to his colleague of “List A”. I was told 20 minutes later of the news,” he said in a press statement today.
He said a letter was prepared for his return to Kuala Lumpur.
“What is the justification of the Sarawak state government lead by Adenan Satem to deny me entry. Prior to this, I had no problem getting into Bintulu. I had mobilised Amanah Youth election machinery there before.
“If I am being barred because I am from the Opposition, then Adenan has failed to understand what democracy is all about,” he added.
Other Opposition politicians who have been barred from Sarawak include Subang Jaya assemblyperson and Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh from DAP; Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad from Amanah; Seremban MP Anthony Loke from DAP; Mohamad Sabu from Amanah; and Dr Afif Bahardin from PKR.
Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Yunos and blogger Papagomo have also been banned from the state.
Adenan had said that those on the immigration black list would be free to enter Sarawak once the state election was over next month.
