MIRI:
For Lee Kim Shin, campaigning in a state election is like a routine job for him as he meets the people every day in his capacity as state assemblyman.

The four-term Adun (state assemblyman) said he believed the voters would know how to evaluate him after serving the people of Senadin for 20 years.

“For me, the preparations for the state election started the day I was voted as the Senadin state assemblyman.

“For me, every day is like campaigning for the election.

“The programmes during the campaign are like normal days for me as I have as many as 19 programmes a day as assemblyman here,” he said when met at the Miri Community Hall here today.

Lee, current vice-president of SUPP and Assistant Infrastructure, Development and Communications Minister prior to the state assembly dissolution on April 11, seems unfazed by the prospect of facing popular Miri dentist Dr Bob Baru Langub in the May 7 election.

The BN man, in a constituency where many vote for the Opposition, said he would present his report card to the voters, detailing his achievements since becoming their representative in 1996.

“I want to show my performance report so that the voters can see what I can achieve if given another five years to serve them.

“I am confident the voters will see and evaluate what they have got for the years I was here.

“Senadin has undergone massive transformation in terms of development since my first term in 1996.

“After 20 years, you can see all that has changed in Senadin.”

In 2011, Lee managed to defeat PKR’s Michael Teo by 58 votes.

However, his calm demeanour and confidence show the conviction of a veteran politician who has survived for 20 years in this area and knows every nook and corner of Senadin.

“I believe I can do better this year,” he said.

He will face Dr Bob and Senadin-born martial arts exponent Philemon John Endau, a surprise candidate from PBDS-Baru.
