“DAP should respect PKR’s decision-making process. Our common enemy is Barisan Nasional, not ourselves,” said the PKR vice-president in a press statement today.
Tian Chua noted that seat negotiations between the two parties had been a long process and expressed regret about the barrage of attacks coming from DAP leaders.
“Most of the seats have been resolved, except for the five seats that are trapped in deadlock,” he noted.
Tian Chua, who is also Batu MP, reminded Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen that his latest swipe against PKR did not reflect the opposition coalition’s vision.
Chong had issued an ultimatum to PKR earlier this afternoon and threatened to field a DAP candidate in Batu Kitang, a seat allocated to PKR.
Tian Chua said “all decisions by PKR were made collectively” and it was misleading for certain DAP leaders “to insinuate that PKR leaders are divided”.
He said PKR was always open to discussion and the Sarawak DAP should continue to negotiate with the Sarawak PKR leadership who have been given autonomy to finalise the list of seats to be contested.
“There’s still time for reconciliation,” Tian Chua said.
Chong had reminded PKR and its deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali to be a gentlemen and stick to an initial agreement between Azmin and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
