PUTRAJAYA:
A lawyer today handed over evidence to the Attorney-General’s Chambers concerning the issue over the disposal of a plot of land in Taman Manggis and the purchase of a bungalow below market price involving Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

Lawyer Abu Backer Sidek, who was approached by the media before handing over the forensic evidence, also called on Attorney-General Mohamad Apandi Ali to speed up the prosecution process against Guan Eng.

Previously, he had handed several pieces of forensic evidence on the case to the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The purchase of the bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn, Penang, by Guan Eng for RM2.8 million had stirred controversy when Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya raised the issue at the Dewan Rakyat sitting, and claimed that the price was below the market value.

Meanwhile, the land in Taman Manggis, which was previously allocated for the construction of a hardcore poor housing project (PPRT), had been sold to a developer for the construction of a private hospital and hotel.
