Joel anak Along, 26, from Miri said he had been studying Islam for a few years and decided to become a Muslim after asking Zakir about the power of syahadah, Bernama reported.
A man from India, Hurender Bal Singh, 23, from Punjab, said he decided to recite the declaration of faith after being satisfied with the preacher’s explanation about a non-Muslim converting to Islam for marriage.
Before reciting the syahadah, Hurender Bal Singh was asked if he had been forced or paid by anyone to do so.
“No, no one forcing me. I believed in Allah and that Prophet Muhammad is God’s messenger and I’m willing to be a Muslim,” he said during a question and answer session at Zakir’s public preaching session before an audience of about 30,000 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil, according to the report.
A woman dressed in a black robe and scarf also announced that she wanted to convert to Islam and recited the syahadah to cheers from the crowd. She did not state her name or where she was from.
After Zakir dealt with a few questions from the crowd, another woman, named Michelle, announced that she, too, wanted to recite the syahadah.
Last Thursday, a teenager converted to Islam at Zakir’s lecture in Terengganu.
Zakir, a controversial preacher from India, is on a speaking tour across Malaysia. He is expected to be in Malacca on Sunday.
