MyKMU: Harsh punishment unnecessary as Mahathir senile

Writer of pro-Umno blog says that while Mahathir Mohamad was good as Umno president and PM once, he has succumbed to old age.

PETALING JAYA: There is no need to impose any harsh punishment on Dr Mahathir Mohamad as he is senile, says pro-Umno blog MyKMU.net.

The writer behind the blog said this when commenting on the call by members of the Umno Veterans’ Club that the Sedition Act be used against Mahathir after the former premier told The Weekend Australian that only external pressure from foreigners could effectively ensure Najib Razak was ousted as prime minister of the country.

While rejecting the suggestion that such drastic action be taken, the blog said, albeit sarcastically, that it would be unfortunate if the 90-year-old Umno veteran was incarcerated.

“Although we know Mahathir is now qualified to replace Anwar (Ibrahim) as the Opposition leader, give him some face. He has, at the very least, contributed to the country for 22 years, playing the role of dictator.”

The blog also said that while Mahathir may have attempted to pawn the country’s sovereignty by calling for foreign intervention, Umno leaders should understand that Mahathir was already “senile”.

“Sometimes, those who recite the poem ‘Melayu Mudah Lupa’ also forget the title of the poem themselves,” the writer said, referring to a book penned by Mahathir and published in 2001.

“Maybe there are those among Umno who disagree with this writer’s opinion. However, any one who has visited an old folks home will perhaps understand. Sometimes we ourselves laugh when hearing what senior citizens have to say.

“So there is no need to entertain what Mahathir has to say.”

While conceding that Mahathir was great at managing Umno when he was president of the party and prime minister of the country, the writer added, “But he (Mahathir) is still only human, and is susceptible to the old age syndrome.”
