PETALING JAYA:
Malacca Historic City Council (MBMB) enforcement officers were attacked by armed men, who also set a Rottweiler on them during an operation against illegal online gambling.

According to a report in The Star Online, the incident on Tuesday saw alleged gangsters, armed with machetes and swords, attempting to intercept the vehicles of enforcement officers and assault them.

MBMB special officer Mohd Yusof Abu Hassan told the portal that the brawl occurred when the alleged gangsters attacked the officers who themselves were only equipped with bamboo batons.

He said the armed men were “very violent” and had “fearlessly assaulted” the enforcement officers, leaving several with minor injuries.

One alleged gangster even set a Rottweiler on the officers to scare them off.

Mohd Yusof said the alleged gangsters also used several cars to block enforcement vehicles from leaving the scene with the confiscated items.

“We will lodge a police report on the incident,” he was quoted by the English daily as saying, adding that operations against vice would continue unabated despite the violent attack.
