The DAP lawmaker earlier asked why 1MDB had to hide behind the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Auditor-General if it had nothing to hide.
“1MDB can call me whatever names it likes – a pony, a donkey or even a monkey.
“However it should stop making an a** of itself by thinking Malaysians are stupid and easily deceived by its attempt to cover up its multi-billion shenanigans,” he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
Pua said this in relation to 1MDB’s labelling of him as a “one trick pony”, who was only capable of recycling old and stale allegations.
The label was given to the Petaling Jaya Utara MP when he asked 1MDB to explain why it paid USD1.4 billion (RM5.5 billion) to a British Virgin Island (BVI) registered entity, “Aabar Investment PJS Limited” instead of “Aabar Investment PJS”, a subsidiary of International Petroleum Investment Corporation (IPIC).
1MDB however stressed that it had previously clarified the purpose behind the USD1.4 billion deposit.
The state-owned firm has been shrouded in controversy following news reports alleging it had misappropriated funds.
