Judge Abdul Karim Wahab said that Mahmud Bekir had shown that he deserved to get the stay. “I accept the reason he gave, that he has to borrow the money just to pay her RM10 million (as installment) by March 31,” he said.
Judge Abdul Karim also ticked off Shahnaz for her comments to the media after the court gave her the RM30 million mutaah. “It’s not wise to tell the public about it. What was said may be prejudicial.”
“Sharie lawyers should advise their clients before they make comments to the media,” he said.
On March 10, Shahnaz was awarded RM30 million as mutaah from her ex-husband businessman.
Judge Abdul Karim ruled that based on Mahmud Bekir’s financial capability he can pay RM30 million to Shahnaz.
Shahnaz and Bekir, married on 9 January 1992, have a son, Raden Murya, born on 11 December 1993.
They were divorced on 11 May 2011. Prior to their divorce, they were separated for 11 years.
