The article, written by one “Cenderawasih”, then pointed out that Najib was the reason why Tengku Razaleigh lost out when he challenged former Umno President Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1987.
During the Umno crisis 29 years ago, Najib, then an influential Umno Youth leader, decided to support Mahathir.
Despite this past history, the article noted, Ku Li signed the declaration “with an open heart”.
“His (Tengku Razaleigh) political maturity is admirable.
“Maybe that’s the quality of the true Petronas founder although ‘someone shameless’ claimed Petronas was his own idea,” the writer said cynically, referring to Mahathir.
Mahathir was recently sacked as Petronas’ adviser.
Yesterday, Ku Li, whose name was on the Citizens’ Declaration, signed the “Kelantan Declaration”, declaring unwavering support for Najib’s administration.
The Citizens’ Declaration, launched on March 4 and spearheaded by Mahathir, calls for Najib’s resignation.
