KUALA LUMPUR:
Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein has dismissed Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s latest allegations against Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (Armed Forces Fund Board or LTAT).

He said Rafizi was doing a “political spin” by trying to connect LTAT to 1MDB.

He also asked LTAT’s lawyers to consider filing a lawsuit against Rafizi for his baseless accusations.

“Don’t tell me every week they (LTAT) have to answer to Rafizi?

“Every time there is an answer, the ‘goal post’ is moved. So this will never end,” he said at a media conference at the Defence Ministry here today.

Rafizi had earlier today threatened to reveal classified government documents if LTAT did not disclose details of its gratuity payments.

He also demanded for full disclosure of the list of payments and arrears that 1MDB made to LTAT subsidiary company, Perbadanan Perwira Hartanah Malaysia (PPHM), from 2013 to 2016.

Rafizi had on Monday claimed that the deal between PPHM and 1MDB was the reason for delays in gratuity payments to non-pensionable veteran soldiers.

Previously, Rafizi had also claimed there was a conflict of interest when 1MDB Chairman Lodin Wok Kamaruddin was also made LTAT’s executive director.

In a press conference at Parliament today, Rafizi alleged that Lodin had dragged LTAT into the 1MDB fiasco and that it had caused veteran army officers to not get their pensions.

The PKR secretary-general also claimed to have in his possession the Federal Government’s classified documents related to both entities.

Commenting on that, Hishammuddin urged Rafizi to bring the matter to court if he had proof that there was a conflict of interest regarding Lodin’s positions at both places.

“Take it to court and let the courts decide.

“What’s wrong with him holding two positions? Is it illegal?” the Umno vice-president asked.
