PETALING JAYA:
Pelaburan Mara Berhad group chief executive Nazim Rahman said today he would sue PKR Vice-President Rafizi Ramli over allegations pertaining to the Dudley House property scandal in Australia.

“In addition to the police report I made on Saturday, I will file a civil suit against him for his continuous slander against me,” he said in a statement today.

He said Rafizi was just recycling allegations, using his “penchant of using unrelated information to link people up in an allegation which he is not able to prove with facts”.

“He is assuming that you are guilty for having your name somehow associated in an unrelated company.

“He should instead provide the facts for his allegation – not drawing from assumption or association – that I have interests directly or indirectly or that I am the owner of or benefited from the companies said to be involved in the Dudley House transaction by Mara Inc, which are TRR Heritage Sdn Bhd, Leuven Capital Sdn Bhd and Optimus Capital Sdn Bhd.

“That is the crux of his allegation and I hope he does not run away from providing the facts.”

Nazim said he had no interests whatsoever in any of the companies above or those mentioned in Rafizi’s latest statement.

“I did not gain any benefit from any of these companies, let alone from the Dudley House transaction. And I have no hesitation to make this declaration under oath.”

Earlier today, Rafizi had challenged Nazim to take legal action against him if his allegations were false, claiming that Australian court documents had implicated Nazim in the Dudley House transaction.

“I’ve shown very specific court documents. If I am wrong, then he should refute this but instead he didn’t comment and made a police report, ” said Rafizi.

The property scandal made headlines last year when Australian newspaper “The Age” reported that Mara had spent millions in government funds to purchase an apartment block in Melbourne, at inflated prices.
