A general surgeon at the Emergency Department of the Taman Desa Medical Centre, Dr Chan Kin Yoong, said he also did not insist Rozana tell him the cause of her injury as it was her right to do so.
The doctor, who is the eighth prosecution witness, was testifying during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene in the trial against Awie.
Awie, whose real name is Mohd Azhar Othman, 48, is charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on Rozana two years ago.
Dr Chan said during his examination of Rozana, he found the woman injured in both eyes, arms, nose, ears, neck and chest.
“The injuries were caused by a blunt object.”
Dr Chan said he treated Rozana on June 5, 2014 and also did a X-ray on her and then admitted her to a ward for further treatment.
However, he said Rozana asked to be discharged two days later.
“She came back to the hospital three weeks after that and an X-ray scan found no complication to her fractured rib.”
Cross-examined by Awie’s lawyer, Hazman Harun, Dr Chan said an injury to the rib could happen due to accident, as well as while doing sports or other activities.
On July 4, 2014, Awie pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Magistrate’s Court to a charge of causing hurt to Rozana at 1.30pm on June 2, 2014 at a house in Taman Ukay Bistari, Ukay Perdana, Hulu Kelang.
He was again charged, and claimed trial, to a similar charge with causing hurt to Rozana at the Jalan Tun Razak PNB Counter here at 3pm on June 2, 2014.
The hearing before Magistrate Ayuni Izzati Sulaiman continues on Monday.
