According to local daily New Straits Times (NST), the banners put up in Kebun Bunga and Nibong Tebal slammed Lim for the removal of the Bukit Tengah assemblyman Ong Chin Wen and Kebun Bunga assemblyman Cheah Kah Peng from the companies.
The posters featured the faces of Lim, Ong and Cheah accompanied with the message “Lim Guan Eng tak patut pecat Ong Chin Wen dan Cheah Kah Peng”, which translates to “Lim Guan Eng should not have sacked Ong Chin Wen and Cheah Kah Peng”.
State PKR chief Mansor Othman, however, denied that his party members were responsible for the banners.
“Those banners were not put up by PKR members. I don’t know who did it,” he told the New Straits Times.
Meanwhile, in a separate report, Lim again lashed out at another Chinese daily, this time the China Press, accusing it of not giving his government enough coverage.
According to the NST, Lim had previously attacked Sin Chew Jit Poh, accusing the daily of trying to sabotage DAP.
This time, Lim said his explanations and statements on certain issues were published in only one column or in a corner of the newspapers.
“Not only is the English press doing this, Chinese dailies, like the China Press, have also started this.
“They play up the issue, but the explanation about it is given small space. It is clear that there is an effort to demonise the state government,” the daily quoted him as saying.
