The five were editor and chief executive officer Jahabar Sadiq, managing editor Lionel Morais, assistant news editor V Anbalagan, assistant chief sub-editor Abdar Rahman Koya and Bahasa assistant chief sub-editor Srihanasham Noordin.
When met by reporters after being questioned, Jahabar said all five had given their statements to the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
He said they were all investigated under Section 124 (I) of the Penal Code (for dissemination of false reports), Section 8 (a) Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (involving freedom of speech) and Section 233 of Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
“We gave our statements individually. We are unsure if we will be called in again or not.
“We leave it to them to investigate what they want to investigate. We stand by our story,” he said, adding they were not informed which article they were being investigated for.
He also hoped cooler heads would prevail and the MCMC would unblock the website as soon as possible.
The five editors gave their statements at 3.15pm.
Access to TMI was partially blocked yesterday by the MCMC as its contents were adjudged to be a threat to national security under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
