According to The Star, these 20 include, among others, Selangor’s Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs executive councillor Dr Daroyah Alwi and State Local Government, New Village Development and Legalising of Factories Committee chairman Ean Yong Hian Wah.
Health directors from local councils and state land offices would also be called to attend the one-day hearing scheduled for 10am on February 23.
The daily in its report added that chief of the state’s Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency, Hannah Yeoh, in a press conference yesterday, said the hearing was meant to uncover the reasons behind the prevalence of dengue cases in Selangor which has recorded the highest number in the country.
“We will look at the cause of the dengue menace, implementation of preventive and control activities, expenses and efficiency of fighting dengue in Selangor,” Yeoh said.
The hearing would also look into the possibility of the dengue menace being the result of poor waste management, she added.
The Health Department’s statistics revealed there were 63,198 dengue cases reported in Selangor last year and from January 1 to February 2 this year, 7,335 more have been recorded.
“Members of the public may attend the hearing if they wished to, but must first register and dress in formal wear as the event is an extension of the state assembly,” Yeoh said.
