Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainol Samah, in a statement, said the suspect – believed to be a Nepalese – was intoxicated based on the way he spoke and the smell of alcohol on him.
“At around 9pm yesterday, Sogo’s auxiliary police found the man lying in front of the mall, bleeding.”
“The auxiliary police and a security officer carried the man and gave him first aid.”
He said the suspect suffered injuries to his nose.
Zainol said the victim, who is the wife of Genji Busker vocalist Mustam Mustapa, had lodged a police report and his officers were investigating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assaulting a person with intent to outrage her modesty.
A video of Mustam’s wife being hugged from behind before the start of the busker band’s performance went viral on WhatsApp.
The couple then pushed the man down, causing him to sustain injuries and left him lying on the walkway.
