Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) President Azih Muda said the increase follows the implementation of 252 service schemes for the public sector.
As such, he said these civil servants should not be worried over rumours that the allowance would be abolished.
He was speaking to reporters after delivering a public address titled “Issues in Civil Service” at a seminar attended by more than 300 civil servants from Sarikei and Sibu today.
On another matter, Azih urged the government to review the Goods and Services Tax (GST) if national revenue increased after the implementation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.
He said this review was important so that the GST did not burden the people including civil servants who were affected by the rise in the price of goods.
