According to a Borneo Post Online report, Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein disclosed this during a visit to the camp yesterday.
He also announced that RM50,000 had been allocated for army personnel at the camp and RM10,000 for the activities of Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel stationed there.
In terms of housing, Hishammuddin said RM570,000 would be allocated for the maintenance of three blocks of Class G housing in the camp, while the Ministry of Housing and Local Government would channel RM3.57 million for the repair and maintenance of army quarters in Sarawak including the 60 units at Penrissen Camp.
“All these efforts and initiatives are to ensure that army personnel and their families live in a comfortable and conducive environment,” he said.
Last year it was announced that under Budget 2016, RM1.2 billion had been allocated to build 4,000 houses for army personnel and their families at 11 locations nationwide under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
Hishammuddin disclosed yesterday that of the 4,000 units, 917 would be built at five locations in Sarawak.
