The Bakar Bata assemblymen also said that he told Najib that the video, which has gone viral on social media, had been sensationalised and he claimed that it was edited by irresponsible parties.
“Maybe the video was edited because it did not record the moments when I was awake.
“I said to the Prime Minister that I wasn’t tired. He (Najib) told me that it’s the normal thing, even in Parliament,” he said during a press conference at Kedah Umno headquarters.
He was responding to ousted Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir’s earlier jibe this morning that he hoped Ahmad Bashah would not nod off at his swearing-in ceremony scheduled at Istana Anak Bukit tomorrow morning.
Ahmad Bashah said that he wasn’t affected at all by what Mukhriz had said.
Instead, he described these remarks as the “asam garam” in local politics and took it as a morale booster in preparation for his new position.
“I’m not taking Mukhriz’s statement personally. Instead, it boosts my morale. I’m not angry,” he said.
This morning, it was reported that Ahmad Bashah had been appointed to replace Mukhriz, who resigned as Kedah Menteri Besar.
