The blog, MyKMU.net, said Sarawakians were “known to be law abiding citizens, civilised and respectful of court decisions” and opposition politicians must respect the judiciary’s sovereignty and “the lack of need to campaign for the release of a convicted prisoner”.
The blog did not refer to Anwar by name, but the former opposition leader is serving a five-year jail sentence on a sodomy charge. His party, PKR, is marking the first anniversary of his jailing by launching a campaign for his freedom.
Last week PKR Wanita leader Zuraida Kamaruddin was denied entry into the state for the third time. Others banned included Anwar’s daughter Nurul Izzah, who is MP for Lembah Pantai, Teresa Kok of the DAP, and others.
MyKMU said opposition leaders deserved the harsh action because of their criticism of Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem.
“Each time a PKR, DAP, or Amanah (Parti Amanah Negara) leader is stopped from entering Sarawak, they would start throwing baseless accusations against Adenan. They haven’t even entered the state and already they made the effort to tarnish his image with all sorts of malicious accusations. What will happen once they are allowed entry? It would be even worse, bringing in an unhealthy culture into the state and tainting the reputation of the East Malaysians,” the blog said.
It claimed that the state had the absolute right to deny entry and that no one could question Sarawak’s right to take such action.
MyKMU said Zuraida or any other person must ensure that they “behave properly, avoid bringing in negative culture or incitement, lies and being rude”.
