
In a statement, the wing’s chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, the Umno secretary-general’s statement had caused unrest among the people over national security.
“If police are serious about the spreading of false news, they must take stern action against Tengku Adnan as a statement from a minister had huge implications.
“It is time a minister is held accountable for his statements.”
Last Sunday Tengku Adnan told the press that Bangsar, Hartamas and The Curve were among the seven locations targeted by terrorists following a series of bombings in Jakarta, Indonesia.
He went on to claim the information was based on intelligence gathered by the authorities.
Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar however later denied the sites were targets for terror attacks although the country had been put on high alert.
