Its chairman, Azwanddin Hamzah claimed that several police reports lodged prior to this in Ampang and Pandan fell on deaf ears, including one on a “Datuk Seri” who allegedly controlled gambling in the area.
“We cannot divulge the name to the media now. Let the police investigate as we gave all the concrete evidence to them today,” he told a press conference after lodging the police report at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters here today.
According to Azwanddin, JMM had compiled the evidence through their own investigations that began in November of last year.
JMM members, he said, had entered such dens and took pictorial evidence of what they claimed to be illegal slot machines among others.
“The people are fed up with the authorities who choose to remain silent.
“There are gambling joints at shopping malls and clinics nearby, just metres from this police station.”
Azwanddin also demanded Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar monitor Ampang as the latter himself resided in the area.
He also announced that the NGO would venture to other districts in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur in their crusade against such establishments.
